App Invites

Use the Comms → App Invites page to invite staff and guardians to download and use the Spark mobile app. You can also track who has downloaded the app, what type of device they use, and when they last used it.

Before You Begin

Staff and guardians must have a Spark user account before they can sign in to the app. Their account gives them access to their staff or guardian portal and allows them to use the same login credentials in the mobile app.

To check whether someone has a Spark user account:

1. Go to Comms → App Invites.
2. Select either the Guardians or Staff tab.
3. Check the table to see whether each person has a Spark user login.

If someone does not have an account, go to their profile in the People section or navigate to People → Portal Access to grant them access. They will need to accept the invitation and set up their password to complete the process.

Note: Students do not currently have access to a Spark mobile app.

Sending App Invitations

Once a staff member or guardian has a Spark user account, they can download the app and sign in using the same credentials they use to access their portal.

To invite them to download the app:

1. Go to Comms → App Invites.
2. Select the Guardians or Staff tab.
3. Click Send Invites at the top of the page to invite multiple people, or click Invite next to an individual’s name.
4. Review the App Invite Email that appears.
5. Customize the email as needed, then send it.

The invitation email includes your school’s name and email address as the sender by default. You can customize the sender information, subject, body, and footer. A preview of the email appears on the right as you make changes.

Customizing the Default Invitation Email

To manage the default email used when sending app invitations, go to Settings → School → Emails.

Any changes you make to the default email will be used for future app invitations unless you customize the email when sending an invitation.

Resending an Invitation

If someone needs another copy of their invitation email, click Remind next to their name on the App Invites page.

Tracking App Usage

The tables on the Guardians and Staff tabs provide an overview of each person's app access and activity. You can see:

• Spark User: Whether the person has a Spark user account.
• Invitation Status: Whether an app invitation has been sent.
• App Download: Whether the app has been downloaded.
• Device Type: The type of device on which the app was downloaded.
• Last Active: When the person last used the app.

Use this information to see who has been invited, who has downloaded the app, and who is actively using it.
