Application Setup
Creating an Enrollment Application
Spark will automatically generate your enrollment application once you provide the necessary information:
- Program Name: Enter the name of your program (e.g., "2025-2026 School Year").
- Application Type: Select a multi-page or single-page application when first creating your program, or later in Settings.
Once these details are entered, Spark will generate an application that includes pre-made fields that applicants must complete.
Customizing an Application
After your program is created, you can tailor the application to your specific needs.
Application Type
You have two application types to chose from. These are selected in Settings:
- Multi-page applications: The form is divided into multiple pages. Applicants can save their progress, return to finish later, and view or withdraw submitted applications.
- Single-page applications: The entire form appears on one page. Applicants cannot save progress, making this option ideal for simple or quick applications.

Questions Tab
Application questions can be customized here.
- Deselect Unnecessary Fields: Remove any pre-built fields that don't apply to your program.
- Mark Fields as Required or Optional: You can change whether a field is required or optional for applicants.
- Add Custom Questions: If you need additional questions, you can create custom fields with different response types (e.g., text, phone number, select options, file uploads).
- Add Attribute Questions: Attributes are custom data fields that you create for the profiles of students, guardians, or families. Examples include Student Stengths, Student Learning Styles, Guardian's Occupation, etc.
- Add Forms: Attach forms you've created in the Forms feature of Spark to the application. Applicants will be able to fill out the form in a pop-up window, and the completed form will be attached to the submitted application. Forms you may wish to attach include Photo/Video Release, Student Medical Information, or Handbook Agreement.

To add a Custom Question:
- Scroll to the bottom of any section and click + Add Custom Question.
- Enter your question and choose the desired field type (text, checkbox, select options).
- If using "Select One" or "Select Many," provide a list of options for applicants.
- Click Save Changes when done to apply your changes.
Note: Data collected through custom questions will not appear on profiles for students, guardians, or families after they have been accepted into your program. To create custom questions that will appear on their portals, use Attribute Questions.
To add an attribute question:
- First, create Custom Attributes for students, guardians, or families in School → Settings → Attributes. [Learn more here.]
- Scroll to the bottom of the relevant section (Student, Guardian, or Family) and click + Add Attribute Question.
- Select an attribute you’ve already created for the student, guardian, or family.
- Click Save Changes.

Requiring an Application Fee
You can require applicants to pay an application fee before submitting their enrollment application.
To set this up:
- Open your Enrollment Program.
- Click the Settings button (top right).
- Go to the Application Fee tab.
- Enter the fee amount
- Toggle on the Payment required in application.
- Click Save.
💡 Note: To collect fees online, make sure online payments are enabled in Billing → Settings.

Requiring Payment Method Collection
Payment methods can also be collected through an application. These methods are stored in the billing account for the applicant, and enable you to use auto-collection on invoices.
To require payment method collection, go to the Payments tab and turn it on. Payment methods are stored securely in Stripe.
