Dashboards in Spark

The Dashboard is the first page you see when logging into your Spark school. It provides a quick snapshot of school activity along with easy access to key tools and links.

Spark offers three types of dashboards, each tailored to different user roles and school structures:

  1. Large School Dashboard
    Best for schools with multiple staff members and classrooms. Designed for admins and high-level staff, this view highlights school events and provides quick access to key administrative tools.
  2. Standard Dashboard
    The default dashboard view for most users. It offers an overview of student activity and quick links to important features on the Spark platform.
  3. Staff Dashboard
    Designed for staff members with classroom-only access. This view displays a list of the staff member’s assigned classrooms, giving access to classroom tools such as Assignments, Activity, and Grades.

Large School Dashboard

The Large School Dashboard is ideal for schools with multiple staff members and classrooms. Admins or staff with high-level access will see this dashboard upon logging in.

How to Enable the Large School Dashboard

  1. Go to Admin → School → Settings.
  2. Click the Miscellaneous tab.
  3. Toggle Large School Dashboard to Enabled.

Features of the Large School Dashboard:

  • Customizable Header – Personalize your dashboard by uploading a picture of your school.
  • Search Bar – Located at the top right for quick access to key areas of your school.
  • Quick Links - Easily navigate to people and other important features in your Spark platform.
  • Events - View the weeks' school events (created on the School Calendar).

Large school dashboard

Standard Dashboard

The standard dashboard is the default version you will see when creating your Spark school.

  • Customizable Header – Personalize your dashboard by uploading a picture of your school.
  • Search Bar – Located at the top right for quick access to key areas of your school.
  • School Overview – Displays a summary of students, staff, guardians, and classrooms, with links to add more.
  • Events - View the weeks' school events (created on the School Calendar).
  • Student Activity Tracker – Provides insights into student assignment and goal status.
  • Needs a ‘Lil Love – This section allows you to quickly view student submissions, record attendance, and fulfil reward redemptions.

Spark Microschool Dashboard

Staff Dashboard

The Staff Dashboard is the default view for staff members who have classroom-only access. It provides a streamlined overview of their classrooms and available tools.

Dashboard Features:

  • My Classrooms - A list of active classrooms assigned to the staff member. Clicking a classroom opens access to tools like Assignments, Activity, Grades, and more.
  • Inactive Classrooms - A section listing classrooms from inactive terms for reference.
  • Create New Classroom - Staff can add a new classroom directly from the dashboard if they have permission.
  • Top-Level Tools - Displays any additional features the staff member has access to—such as Chat, Courses, or other modules enabled by the school.

The Activity Tracker

The Student Activity Tracker is found on the standard dashboard, or in a classroom in the Activity tab. It gives you a comprehensive view of:

  • Assignments due today
  • Late assignments
  • Goals progress
  • Assignment submissions
  • Reward redemptions

To view specific lists, click on a student’s picture or name in the dropdown and select the list you wish to see.

Note: For staff with classroom-only access, the activity tracker can be viewed in the classroom Activity tab.

Sections in the Activity Tracker

  • Due Today and Late:
    You can excuse incomplete assignments. Excusing an assignment here will remove it from the Student Portal.
  • Goals:
    Displays the goals the student is working on, along with the progress made toward each goal.
  • Submissions:
    Shows recent assignment submissions, including both completed and pending approval assignments.
  • Redemptions:
    Allows you to review and process student reward redemptions.

Needs A 'Lil Love

The Needs A 'Lil Love section is a feature on the standard dashboard, and provides quick access to several important tasks:

  • Submission Review:
    View all student submissions. You can open and review each submission individually or approve multiple submissions at once.
  • Today's Attendance:
    Quickly record attendance for the current day.
  • Reward Redemptions:
    See the rewards students have redeemed and mark them as fulfilled.
